A view from the Top: Creating art for a Rooftop Sanctuary
Recently, we had a project that took us to a condo in the heart Boston’s Back Bay. Our task: to completely reconstruct its rooftop deck space, transforming it into a spa-inspired oasis, featuring a cold plunge, a sauna, a luxury outdoor kitchen, a stunning pavilion, and an extraordinary outdoor water feature carved from solid stone. The entirety of the project was a collaborative feat, accomplished with some of our favorite partners, including, the exceptionally gifted teams at the award-winning Lombardi Landscape Architects, SLC interiors, Dawn Carroll, Colonial Marble, and Ryan Ackerman of Monti Ackerman.
One of the standout features of this urban sanctuary is the custom water feature, which blends ancient artistry with modern framing. With the help of Dawn Carroll, a longtime partner and the best in the biz when it comes Stone design, the vision of Lombardi and Vona, and the awe-inspiring artistry of Ryan Ackerman, a fourth-generation granite sculptor, this one-of-a-kind focal point is a remarkable piece of outdoor art. Watch the video to see how this special piece was created.
