How do we make our custom homes custom? Meet Jodi.
Jodi Geran, our Millwork Designer, has worked throughout the country, bringing her exceptional skills to the design of finely crafted millwork for more than two decades. Which is why we consider ourselves lucky at Kenneth Vona Millwork to have her on our team, where the combination of her immense creativity and technical prowess allows her to help clients with custom-designed cabinetry, from start to finish. And we don’t just mean kitchen cabinetry. We mean any style or genre of cabinetry or built-ins for bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, family rooms, dining rooms, or any other room in a home that a finely crafted, personalized storage solution will add some custom style.
With a background in interior design, it’s no surprise that Jodi pays close attention to the aesthetics of a millwork project, but she also excels in fabrication. “My role is in the sweet spot between creative and technical,” says Jodi. “So, I get to think about design but also figure out how to make it work in the real world, and since every project is different, it really keeps things interesting and also allows me to learn something new all the time.”
A typical day for Jodi is never typical, and it’s never boring, since her job encompasses a broad range of roles. (And she excels at all of them!) Her schedule is often filled with a mix of design development, coordination, and problem-solving. For instance, she might take a custom cabinetry design and spend time fine-tuning and refining it to ensure it not only looks great but can realistically be built and easily installed. Or she might take on project management or step in on the design side. With her deep well of experience, she has the savvy and expertise to guide and support clients through decision-making, keep their project timeline and budget on track, and ensure it all comes together perfectly. Whether she’s ensuring the designer, architect and mill team working on a project together are all on the same page, or catching potential issues on a project, before they become problematic, sourcing the perfect antique mirror for a wet bar, or tracking down an integrated lighting solution for a built-in that elevates it to the next level, Jodi always goes the extra mile to ensure a flawless result.
“I love seeing something go from an idea to a finished installation — it never gets old!” Jodi says. And while she’s humble about her own talent, she can’t rave enough about her team’s high level of craft and artistry. “They’re amazing,” she says.
When she’s not bringing her magic touch to the Mill, Jodi is always on the go, spending as much time outside as she can. Whether she’s wandering a Farmer’s Market, trying a new restaurant, traveling, hiking with her yellow Lab Sully, spending time at the water, or with family and friends, she’s always looking for and finding inspiration along the way.
